Upcoming Conferences 

  • OMAA Online Symposium, 30 September 2022, 10am – 6pm (AEDT). This year’s symposium theme is Future Proof – addressing future client needs. The OMAA Professional Development team is thrilled to announce that Dr Amanda Lueck has been secured as one of the keynote speakers. Dr Lueck is an expert on visual impairment, particularly the effects of early brain injury on vision in children and its educational consequences. She is a Professor Emeritus of Special Education, San Francisco State University and co-author of Vision and the Brain: Understanding Cerebral Visual Impairment in Children. We are very excited to have her engage with our O&M community in Australasia.

  • Behind the Scenes of a Guide Dog’s Journey – Made by the producers of Bondi Vet, Born to Lead is a new documentary series offering unique insight into the lives of guide dogs, from birth to retirement. The first four episodes are out now, with new episodes released weekly.
  • Organisations supporting families with children with vision impairment have formed a new Paediatric Vision Impairment Alliance focused on advocacy at the policy level.
